Michael Alexander Lynche (born May 31, 1983) is an American R&B singer and songwriter. He is known for his soulful music. Michael became famous after finishing fourth on the ninth season of the TV show American Idol. He was also the second person on the show to be saved by the judges. After American Idol, Michael released his first album in 2012. The main song from that album, "Who's Gonna Love You More," became a top 25 hit on Billboard magazine's Adult R&B chart. Since then, he has performed with his live touring group, Michael Lynche and the Black Saints.

Early Life and Music Beginnings
Michael Lynche was born to Michele and Marque Lynche, Sr. His older brother, Marque, Jr., was also a singer. He was a semi-finalist on the third season of American Idol. Michael's favorite musicians include Lauryn Hill, Maxwell, and Al Green.
Before becoming a singer, Michael played football. He played for Gibbs High School and the University of Central Florida. He left college in 2003 to care for his mother, who was very ill.
Michael's American Idol Journey
Michael Lynche tried out for American Idol in Orlando, Florida, on July 9, 2009. He sang "Unchained Melody" for the judges. He made it through to the next rounds.
During "Hollywood Week" of the show, Michael got exciting news. His wife, Christa, had given birth to their daughter, Laila Rose. This was a very special moment for him.
Because Michael was one of the top 10 finalists, he got to join the American Idol 2010 summer tour. This tour allowed him to perform for many fans across the country.
On April 7, 2010, Michael received the fewest votes from viewers. He would have been eliminated from the competition. However, the judges had a special "save" they could use only once. They decided to use it on Michael, allowing him to stay in the competition.
Michael was finally eliminated from American Idol on May 12, 2010. He finished in fourth place.

After Idol
After American Idol, Michael Lynche joined the other top finalists on the American Idols Live! Tour 2010. He performed several songs, including "This Woman's Work" and "Ready for Love." He also sang a duet with Casey James.
Michael signed with Big3 Records. He released two songs from his first album: "Who's Gonna Love You More" and "Today." "Who's Gonna Love You More" reached number 25 on the Billboard Adult R&B chart. "Today" also did well on the Adult Contemporary chart.
While making his first album, Michael also worked on his health. He went on a diet and lost ninety pounds. After his album came out, he started performing live shows. He is the lead singer of a group called Michael Lynche and the Black Saints. He has also worked with conductor Jeff Tyzik on live orchestra shows. In 2012, Michael released a four-song EP called Christmas Gift. This EP included two original Christmas songs.
In 2015, news reports said that Michael was working on his second album. He has performed a new song from that album, "There Will Be Love," at his concerts and on TV.
In 2018, Michael was in an independent comedy movie called American Reject. The movie was about a reality TV singing competition. It was released in 2022. The film features original songs.
