Michael Charles Blunden was born on December 15, 1986. He is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player. Mike played as a winger. During his career, he played over 100 games in the National Hockey League (NHL). He played for teams like the Ottawa Senators, Tampa Bay Lightning, Montreal Canadiens, Columbus Blue Jackets, and Chicago Blackhawks.

Mike Blunden's Hockey Journey
Starting in Junior Hockey
Mike Blunden was chosen in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft by the Chicago Blackhawks. He was the 43rd player picked overall. Before that, he played for the Erie Otters in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL). After his last year with the Otters, Mike signed his first professional contract with the Blackhawks on May 24, 2006. He had already played his first professional games with the Norfolk Admirals. This team was linked to the Blackhawks and played in the American Hockey League (AHL).
First NHL Games and Injuries
Mike made his debut in the NHL during the 2006–07 season. He played 9 games for the Blackhawks. However, his season ended early. On December 10, 2006, he hurt his shoulder. This injury kept him from playing for the rest of that season.
Moving Between Teams
On January 10, 2009, Mike was traded from the Blackhawks to the Columbus Blue Jackets. Later, on July 7, 2011, he was traded again. This time, he went from the Columbus Blue Jackets to the Montreal Canadiens. The Canadiens signed him again for another year on July 1, 2012.
On July 1, 2014, Mike left the Canadiens. He signed a one-year contract with the Tampa Bay Lightning. The Lightning re-signed him for another year on June 29, 2015. During that season, he played two games with the Lightning. He also played 33 games with their minor league team, the Syracuse Crunch. With the Crunch, he scored 13 goals and had 22 points.
Playing for the Senators and Overseas
After two years with the Lightning, Mike became a free agent. On July 1, 2016, he signed a two-year contract with the Ottawa Senators. He started the season with the Binghamton Senators, their minor league team. Mike played his first game for the Ottawa Senators on November 9, 2016. This game was against the Buffalo Sabres.
After his contract with the Senators ended, Mike left North America. He had played there for 13 years. On July 18, 2018, he signed a one-year deal with HCB South Tyrol. This team is from Italy and plays in the EBEL. Mike played well for Bolzano. He scored 33 points in 38 regular season games.
After the playoffs, Mike left Bolzano. On April 3, 2019, he signed a one-year contract with a German team. This team was the Schwenninger Wild Wings in the DEL. He finished his professional career there in 2020.
