Michael "Mike" Gazella (born October 13, 1895 – died September 11, 1978) was an American baseball player. He played in the major leagues for the New York Yankees. Mike was part of several Yankees teams that won championships in the 1920s.

Mike Gazella's Early Baseball Days
Mike Gazella was born in Olyphant, Pennsylvania. He was a talented athlete from a young age. In college, he played both football and baseball. He attended Lafayette College and Mansfield University of Pennsylvania.
In 1923, the New York Yankees signed Mike to play for them. He played in eight games for the Yankees that season. For the next two years, 1924 and 1925, he played in the minor leagues. He played for teams in Minneapolis and Atlanta.
Joining the Yankees' Championship Team
Mike rejoined the New York Yankees in the 1926 season. He became a utility infielder, which means he could play different positions in the infield. He usually played third base.
The Yankees were a very strong team during the 1920s. They played in the World Series every year Mike Gazella was on the team. The World Series is the championship series of Major League Baseball.
World Series Appearances
The Yankees won the World Series three times while Mike was on the team. They won in 1923, 1927, and 1928. Mike himself played in only one World Series. This was the 1926 World Series. In that series, the Yankees played against the St. Louis Cardinals. Unfortunately, the Yankees lost to the Cardinals that year.
After Playing Baseball
After his playing career ended, Mike Gazella stayed involved in baseball. He became a baseball manager. He managed teams like the Ponca City Angels and the Moline Plowboys. He also worked as a scout for the New York Yankees. A scout helps find new talented players for a team.
Mike Gazella passed away on September 11, 1978. He died in an automobile accident in Odessa, Texas.
