Michael Anthony Jones (born April 14, 1960) is an American football coach and former player. He is currently the wide receivers coach for the Birmingham Stallions. This team plays in the United Football League (UFL).

Mike Jones played as a wide receiver in the National Football League (NFL) for seven seasons. He played for five different teams. These teams included the Minnesota Vikings, New Orleans Saints, Kansas City Chiefs, and New England Patriots. Jones played college football at Tennessee State University. Later, he returned to his old college to be their offensive coordinator from 2010 to 2014.

Playing Football

Mike Jones was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He went to Riverside High School in Chattanooga. After high school, he played college football at Tennessee State University.

He then had a seven-year career as a wide receiver in the National Football League. He played from 1983 to 1989. During this time, he played for the Minnesota Vikings and the New Orleans Saints.

Coaching Career

Mike Jones has had a long and successful coaching career. He is currently the wide receivers coach for the Birmingham Stallions in the UFL. The Stallions won championships in 2022, 2023, and 2024.

Early Pro Coaching

Jones started his professional coaching career as an assistant coach. He worked with the Rhein Fire in NFL Europa. He spent five years with the Fire over two different periods. During this time, his teams reached the World Bowl championship game four times.

From 1998 to 2000, he was the wide receivers coach for the Rhein Fire. The team won the league championship in both 1998 and 2000.

In 2001, Jones worked as an assistant coach for the Orlando Rage in the XFL.

Offensive Coordinator and Head Coach

After a short break, Jones returned to the Rhein Fire in 2002. He became their offensive coordinator. The Fire made it to the World Bowl again in 2002 and 2003. They lost to other German teams, Berlin and Frankfurt.

After the 2003 season, Jones became the head coach of the Frankfurt Galaxy. As head coach, he led the team to the World Bowl three times in four seasons. They won World Bowl XIV in 2006. The NFL Europe league ended after the 2007 season.

In 2009, Jones became the receivers coach for the Toronto Argonauts in the Canadian Football League (CFL). From 2010 to 2014, he was the offensive coordinator for his old college team, Tennessee State.

Family Life

Mike Jones is married and has three children. His son, Chandler Jones, also played college football at San Jose State. Chandler later played in the CFL.
