Mimi Rogers was born Miriam Spickler in Coral Gables, Florida. Her father, Philip C. Spickler, was an engineer. Her mother, Kathy Talent, studied dance and drama. Her father became involved with Scientology before she was born, and this was part of her childhood.
Her family moved a lot, living in places like Virginia, Arizona, Michigan, and England. They eventually settled in Los Angeles. Mimi finished high school at age fourteen. Before becoming an actress, she worked at a hospital and as a social worker for six years.

Connection to Scientology
Mimi Rogers's father became interested in Dianetics and Scientology. This was part of her upbringing. She was involved with the Church of Scientology for a time. Before she became an actress, she even had a practice related to Scientology with her first husband.
