Miner is a city located in Scott County in the state of Missouri. It is right next to the city of Sikeston on its west side. In 2020, about 916 people lived in Miner.

History of Miner

Miner started in the 1860s. It was a stop along the Missouri Pacific Railroad, which was a big train line.

At first, the town was called "Vannoy". Later, its name changed to "Minner Switch". This happened around 1895, when a post office was opened there. The community got its name from a person named Mr. Miner (or Minner). He owned a sawmill in the area.

Geography of Miner

Miner is in the southeast part of Scott County. It is mainly located around where two major roads meet: Interstate 55 and U.S. Route 62. This meeting point is called Exit 67.

The city's borders go north along Interstate 55 up to Exit 69. They also stretch south almost to where Interstate 57 begins. The city of Sikeston is right next to Miner on its western side.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Miner covers a total area of about 4.61 square miles (11.94 square kilometers). All of this area is land.
