History of Mineral Bluff
Long before Europeans arrived, the land where Mineral Bluff is now was home to the Cherokee people. They and other Indigenous peoples lived there for thousands of years.
The area was first settled by Europeans in the 1830s and was called "Douglas." In 1885, the name was changed to "Mineral Bluff."
In 1889, the Georgia General Assembly (which is like Georgia's state government) officially made Mineral Bluff a town.
Mineral Bluff has a historic train station called the Mineral Bluff Depot. This old building is important because it's listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This means it's a special place that is protected for its history.
