Family Rind

Mir Chakar Khan Rind (1468–1565) was a famous Baloch leader. He is known for creating the Second Baloch Confederacy, a group of tribes united together, from 1487 to 1512. He also helped the Mughal Emperor Humayun take back control of the Subcontinent. Mir Chakar Khan Rind is seen as a folk hero by the Baloch people. He is also a key character in the Baloch epic story Hani and Sheh Mureed.

Who Was Mir Chakar Khan Rind?

Mir Chakar Rind came from a long line of Baloch leaders. He was a descendant of Rind Khan, whose father, Jalal Khan, founded the Baloch people. Mir Chakar Rind's original home was Mand in Balochistan. His family members later moved to different areas in the region and the Middle East. Many of his descendants still use "Rind" in their names today.

Becoming a Leader

Mir Chakar became the leader of the Rind tribe when he was just 18 years old. This happened after his father, Mir Shehaq Rind, passed away. His time as a leader was marked by a big civil war. This war was fought between his Rind tribe and the Lashari tribe in Balochistan.

The Thirty Years' War

As the head of his tribe, Mir Chakar led his people into this long conflict. Thousands of people died during this war. The bravery of the leaders from both tribes is still an important part of Baloch history. This conflict is often called the "Thirty Years' War."

Mir Chakar was a very brave man. He wanted to make the Baloch nation strong and powerful. After leaving Dhadar, he moved to the Sanghar Desert, near Taunsa in Dera Ghazi Khan. He ruled this area for many years.

Battles and Alliances

Later, another leader named Mir Doda Khan arrived with his army. Mir Chakar had beaten Mir Doda before. However, Mir Doda's army defeated Mir Chakar in the Sanghar desert. After this loss, Mir Chakar and his army left Sanghar. They moved to the Multan area and formed an alliance with the king of Multan.

Mir Chakar had many skilled fighters. One of his best was Mir Malagh Khan Rind. It is said that Mir Malagh Khan's sword was very heavy, weighing about 75 kilograms (165 pounds). Only he could use it. Other brave fighters included Mir Qaiser Khan, Mir Sanjar Khan, and Mir Mandar Khan.

Conquering Delhi

The Multan king and Mir Chakar then planned to conquer Delhi. The Multan king asked for Mir Chakar's help. Mir Chakar sent his best fighters, led by Mir Malagh Khan and Mir Qaiser Khan. They marched to Delhi and successfully conquered it.

After this victory, the king of Delhi was very impressed. He reportedly said that the Baloch warriors were incredibly strong and united. Meanwhile, Mir Doda was gaining more power. His grandsons, Mir Ghazi Khan and Mir Ismail Khan, were also strong fighters. The Pakistani districts of Dera Ghazi Khan and Dera Ismail Khan are named after them.

The Multan king invited Mir Doda for dinner. He told Mir Doda that he would be his trusted helper. This made Mir Chakar angry. He decided to attack Mir Doda. In the battle, Mir Doda was badly defeated. His people and army moved to Sindh and did not return.

Settling in Satghara

Near the Sanghar desert, Mir Chakar built 100 houses for his relatives. He named this place Sokar, which is now part of Taunsa. This area is still located near the Sanghar desert. Mir Malagh Khan also lived there. The Malghani Balochs are descendants of this great warrior. Today, Sokar is the hometown of the Malghani Baloch Tribe.

Mir Chakar later settled in Satghara, in the Okara area. He became very powerful and respected there. Sher Shah Suri, another powerful ruler, asked Mir Chakar to join him. Mir Chakar thanked him but refused to help Sher Shah Suri.

Instead, Mir Chakar's forces, led by his son Mir Shahdad Khan, joined the Mughal army. This happened in 1555, after Emperor Humayun had been in exile. Emperor Humayun returned, took back Delhi, and removed the Suri dynasty in 1556. As a reward, Emperor Humayun gave Mir Chakar a large Jagir (a grant of land), along with horses and slaves. Mir Chakar ruled this territory until he died in 1565. The people who came with him to Satghara built a tomb for him. Both Noori Naseer Khan of Kalat and Mir Chakar are celebrated as Baloch heroes.
