Misema Lake is a beautiful lake located in the Timiskaming District of Northeastern Ontario, Canada. It sits within the Saint Lawrence River drainage basin, which means its waters eventually flow into the mighty Saint Lawrence River. This lake is also part of a special geological area known as the Misema Caldera.

What is Misema Lake?

Misema Lake is a freshwater lake in Ontario. It is found in two geographic areas: Katrine Township and Arnold Township. The lake is an important part of the local water system.

Where Does the Water Come From?

Lakes get their water from rivers and streams that flow into them. These are called inflows. For Misema Lake, the main inflows are:

  • The Misema River, which enters the lake from the west.
  • The Little Misema River, which flows in from the northeast.
  • Kinabik Creek, a smaller stream that joins the lake from the east.

Where Does the Water Go?

Water also flows out of lakes, usually through a river. This is called an outflow. The main outflow for Misema Lake is the Misema River itself, which leaves the lake from the south.

Misema River's Journey

After leaving Misema Lake, the Misema River continues its journey. It flows into the Blanche River. The Blanche River then joins the Ottawa River. Finally, the Ottawa River flows into the huge Saint Lawrence River. This means that a drop of water from Misema Lake could travel all the way to the Atlantic Ocean!
