Mitch Tambo is an Aboriginal Australian singer and songwriter. He is also someone who speaks up for his community and culture. In 2016, he released his first collection of songs, called an EP.
In 2019, Mitch became very well known across Australia. He reached the final of Australia's Got Talent. People loved his special version of the song "You're the Voice". He sang it in two languages: Gamilaraay (an Aboriginal language) and English. In November 2019, Mitch Tambo signed a music deal with Sony Music Australia. He left the label in 2024. In July 2024, he released an album of instrumental music called Tambo Jamz Vol.1.

Mitch Tambo's Early Life and Culture
Mitch Tambo was born in Sydney, Australia. When he was about a year and a half old, his family moved to Tamworth.
Mitch shares that his mother, Roz Parker, helped him feel proud of his Gamilaraay culture and his identity. His Aunty Bernadette Duncan also played a big part. She helped him learn and use his traditional language again.
In 2010, Mitch Tambo traveled all the way to Rome. He went for a special event called the canonisation of Mary MacKillop.
Mitch Tambo's Music Journey
In 2016, Mitch Tambo released his first EP, which he called Guurrama-Li. An EP is like a mini-album with a few songs. This EP was released again by Songbird Records in July 2018.
Australia's Got Talent and Beyond
In 2019, Mitch tried out for Australia's Got Talent. He sang his song "Walanbaa" for his audition. He impressed the judges so much that he received a "golden buzzer" from Nicole Scherzinger. This meant he went straight to the semi-finals!
In the semi-final, he got another golden buzzer from judge Natalie Bassingthwaighte. He performed a special version of "You're the Voice". He sang it in both Gamilaraay and English. He also wore traditional Dhinawan and Murray crests and feathers, showing his cultural pride. Mitch made it to the final round in September 2019.
After his time on the show, Mitch's EP became popular around the world. Many fans even started a campaign online. They wanted him to represent Australia in the Eurovision Song Contest.
Eurovision and New Music
In November 2019, Mitch Tambo signed a music contract with Sony Music Australia. Soon after, he was chosen to compete in Eurovision - Australia Decides. This competition decides who will represent Australia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2020. Mitch performed his song "Together" and finished 5th out of 10 contestants.
In December 2019, Mitch released his popular bilingual version of "You're the Voice". He had performed this song in the semi-final of Australia's Got Talent. He sang it at the NITV sunrise ceremony for Australia Day in January 2020. He also performed it with the famous singer John Farnham at the Fire Fight Australia concert in February 2020.
On 15 May 2020, Mitch released a new song called "Love". He shared that this song is about finding strength inside yourself. It's about healing and feeling hopeful for a better future.
In September 2022, Mitch released the song "Come Together". He worked on this song with Lee Kernaghan and Isaiah Firebrace.
In May 2023, he released "Yugal Yulu-gi". This name means "song and dance." The song was used during the NRL Indigenous Round on Fox Sports.
On 3 September 2023, Mitch Tambo performed his bilingual "You're The Voice" again. He sang it at a concert supporting a vote to give Indigenous Australians a special voice in the Australian Parliament. His performance was part of a video advertisement.
In 2024, Mitch Tambo left Sony Music. In July 2024, he released his instrumental album, Tambo Jamz Vol.1.

In 2013, he hosted a TV show for kids called Muso Magic Outback Tracks. This show shared positive stories from Aboriginal communities in remote areas.
In 2015, Mitch started a program called True Culture. This program helps young people learn about their identity. They do this through cultural performances, workshops with mentors, learning about bush tucker (traditional foods), and art activities. The program aims to support young people who need extra help.

Mitch Tambo is a proud Gamilaraay and Birri Gubba man. In 2019, he was living in Melbourne.
Mitch and his wife Lele welcomed their first child in November 2021.
