About the Moder River
The Moder river is about 82.1 km (51.0 mi) long. Its drainage basin (the area of land where all the water drains into the river) covers about 1,720 km2 (664 sq mi).

Where the Moder River Starts and Ends
The Moder river begins in the Vosges mountains in a place called Moderfeld. This spot is in the town of Zittersheim, which is in the Bas-Rhin area of France. The river starts at a height of about 330 m (1,083 ft) above sea level.
From its start, the Moder first flows north, then turns southeast, and finally flows northeast.
The Moder river flows through many towns in the Grand Est region and the Bas-Rhin department. Some of these towns include Zittersheim, Wingen-sur-Moder, Ingwiller, Pfaffenhoffen, and the larger city of Haguenau.
The Moder river eventually joins the Rhine river in the town of Neuhaeusel.
