Saverne is a commune in north-eastern France, in the Bas-Rhin department, of which it is a subprefecture. It is in the Grand Est region.
The commmune is in the historical and cultural region of Alsace.

Saverne is in the west of the Bas-Rhin department, 50 km (31 mi) to the west of Strasbourg. The Marne–Rhine Canal flows through the city of Saverne. The Zorn river, a right tributary of the Moder river, flows through the commune.
The commune has an area of 26.0 km2 (10.0 sq mi). Its average altitude is 320 m (1,050 ft); at the city hall, the altitude is 190 m (620 ft).
