This place was important because it was a station on the Carson and Colorado Railway. This railway was a narrow-gauge railroad that helped move goods and people through the area a long time ago.
In 1940, Mount Montgomery was a busy little stop. It had a service station where cars could get gas, a store to buy supplies, and even a bar. It was a useful place for travelers and people working on the railway.

For a while, there was a small casino near Montgomery Pass. Casinos are places where people can play games for money. However, this casino is no longer there. It burned down sometime before the year 2011.
