Montrichard is a charming town in the Loir-et-Cher département (which is like a county) in France. It used to be its own separate town, called a commune, but on January 1, 2016, it joined with another area to form a new, bigger commune called Montrichard-Val-de-Cher.

Exploring Montrichard's Location
Montrichard is located on the north side of the Cher River. It's about 32 kilometers (20 miles) south of a city called Blois. It's also 73 kilometers (45 miles) west of Vierzon and 42 kilometers (26 miles) east of Tours. The land around Montrichard is mostly used for growing grapes, which are used to make wine. You can also find forests, cattle farms, and fields where cereals like wheat are grown.

Montrichard is home to several interesting historical sites that tell stories from the past.
Montrichard Castle
The Château de Montrichard is a very old castle from the Middle Ages. It stands tall and reminds visitors of the town's long history.
Nanteuil Church
The Nanteuil Church was built over several centuries, with parts from the 12th, 13th, and 15th centuries. Inside, there is a special statue of the Virgin Mary. For a very long time, people have made a special trip, called a pilgrimage, to this church every year on Whit Monday.
Church of the Holy Cross
The Church of the Holy Cross, or Église Ste-Croix, has a beautiful entrance built in the Romanesque style. This church is famous because it was the place where Joan of France, Duchess of Berry married Louis XII, who would later become the King of France. Their marriage was later ended.
Château de Pont-Cher
The Château de Pont-Cher is a unique home from the 15th century. It's special because it was built right into the side of a cliff! Inside this home, you can find the René Galloux collection. This collection has many very old items from prehistoric times and the Gallo-Roman period. These items were found during archaeological digs in the Cher valley.
