The Morohashi Museum of Modern Art (諸橋近代美術館, Morohashi Kindai Bijutsukan) is an exciting art museum in Kitashiobara, Fukushima Prefecture, Japan. It opened its doors in 1999. The museum is located inside Bandai-Asahi National Park, close to Goshiki-numa, and offers amazing views of Mount Bandai.

This museum is special because it has a huge collection of art by Salvador Dalí. It owns over 340 pieces by him! This makes it the third largest Dalí museum in the world. It is also the only Dalí museum in all of Asia. Besides Dalí, the museum also displays works by other famous artists. These include Sisley, Cézanne, Renoir, Matisse, and Picasso.

History of the Museum

The Morohashi Museum of Modern Art was created by a Japanese businessman named Teizo Morohashi. He was the founder of a sports and clothing company called XEBIO Corporation. Mr. Morohashi loved art, especially the works of Salvador Dalí and a style called surrealism.

Starting in 1991, he began buying many artworks by Dalí. He also collected paintings by other well-known artists like Henri Matisse, Marc Chagall, and Pablo Picasso. Mr. Morohashi wanted a special place to keep and show his amazing art collection. So, he decided to build a museum. Construction started in 1997 and was finished quickly in 1998. The museum officially opened to the public in 1999. Today, Teizo's oldest son, Eiji Morohashi, is the director of the museum.
