His Early Life
Morteza Pouraliganji grew up in a village called Pain Ganj Afruz. This village is located in Babol County, Iran.
Playing for Clubs
Morteza started his senior football career with Naft Tehran in 2010. He scored his first goal as a professional player in 2011. This goal helped his team win a game 4–1 against Paykan.
Moving to China
In 2015, Morteza moved to China. He joined a club called Tianjin Teda in the Chinese Super League. He played his first game for them in April 2015. Later that year, in June, he scored his first goal for Tianjin Teda. He decided to leave the club after his contract ended.
Playing in Qatar
On January 8, 2016, Morteza chose to join Qatar Stars League club Al Sadd. He had offers from teams in Europe and China, but he picked Al Sadd. One big reason he joined was to play alongside Xavi, a very famous football player. Morteza signed a contract until the end of that season. He scored his first goal for Al Sadd in February 2016. He then decided to stay with Al Sadd for another season. He continued to score important goals for them.
Joining Persepolis
On June 6, 2022, Morteza Pouraliganji returned to Iran. He joined Persepolis, a team in the Persian Gulf Pro League. He signed a two-year deal with them. He is still playing for Persepolis today.
Playing for His Country
Youth Teams
Morteza also played for Iran's youth national teams. He represented Iran U-17 in the 2009 FIFA U-17 World Cup. In 2012, he became a regular player for the Iran U23 team. He was part of the squad for the 2014 Asian Games.
Senior National Team
After playing well in the Asian Games, Morteza was called up to the main Iran national team. He made his first appearance for the senior team in a friendly match against Iraq in January 2015.
He was chosen to play in the 2015 AFC Asian Cup. He played very well in Iran's first game against Bahrain. His strong performance in the second match against Qatar earned him a spot in the "AFC Best 11 of Round 2." In the quarter-final match against Iraq, Morteza scored his first goal for Iran. The game ended in a 3–3 draw, and Iran lost in a penalty shootout.
In May 2018, Morteza was selected for Iran's team for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. He has continued to be an important player for his country.
