Mouna Noureddine, born Saadia Oueslati on January 23, 1937, is a famous actress from Tunisia. She has had a long and successful career in theater, movies, and television. Her stage name, Mouna Noureddine, was suggested by Mohamed Hedi Remnissi, an artist from Bizerte.

About Mouna Noureddine

Her Early Life

Mouna Noureddine went to elementary school in Hammam-Lif. There, she joined a local theater group called "Ennahdha ettamthilia." After finishing school in 1952, she first went to a college for teachers. But two years later, she decided to study at the Arabic theater school in Tunis instead.

When she was just fifteen, Mouna met actor Noureddine Kasbaoui during rehearsals for a play by William Shakespeare. They later got married and had six children together (two boys and four girls). In 1954, she started working with the municipal Arabic theater group, led by Zeki Touleïmat.

The next year, Mohamed Agrebi, the director of the Tunis Municipality theater, invited her to join his team. Soon, Mouna Noureddine was chosen for the main roles in most of their plays.

Her Acting Career

Mouna Noureddine has acted in about 150 plays. Some of these were directed by Aly Ben Ayed. She has performed in many famous plays like Hamlet and Antigone. She also played in The Merchant of Venice and Layla and Majnun.

She has also starred in many Tunisian movies. Some of her well-known films include Sejnane, Aziza, and The Season of Men. Her acting has earned her praise and appreciation from critics and audiences across Tunisia, North Africa, and Europe. She has performed in famous theaters in Tunis, Paris, and even in Iran and Egypt.

On television, Mouna Noureddine has appeared in several popular TV shows. These include El Khottab Al Bab, Mnamet Aroussia, and Choufli Hal. She also starred in Nsibti Laaziza. All these shows were directed by Slaheddine Essid.

After more than 50 years of acting, Mouna Noureddine is still active. Since 2002, she has also been the director of the Tunis City theater group. This was the first time a woman held this position! She continues to act in both Tunisian and international productions.
