Mouna Traoré (born May 4, 1995) is a talented Canadian actress and filmmaker. She is well-known for her roles in popular TV shows like Rookie Blue, Murdoch Mysteries, and The Umbrella Academy. Mouna has also starred in films such as The Drop In and Brown Girl Begins.

Mouna Traoré was born and grew up in Toronto, Canada. Her mother is from Haiti, and her father is from Mali.
Mouna's Acting Journey
Mouna Traoré started acting when she was very young. She took classes at the Young People's Theatre. Later, she studied at the Etobicoke School of the Arts. She also earned a Bachelor of Arts and Science degree from the University of Toronto.
Film Roles and Success
In 2017, Mouna starred in a short film called The Drop In. This film was shown for the first time at the Toronto International Film Festival. In the movie, Mouna plays Joelle, a hairdresser. Joelle faces a surprise when someone from her past, Grace, visits her salon. This visit has a secret reason related to Joelle's immigration status. The Drop In was chosen as one of Canada's top short films that year.
Also in 2017, Mouna starred in an Afro-futurist movie called Brown Girl Begins. This film was released in theaters in 2018. It was also shown at many film festivals.

Mouna Traoré has appeared in more than a dozen TV shows. She started with a role in the children's comedy series Majority Rules! on Teletoon.
She is well-known for playing Crystal Markes on Global TV's Rookie Blue in 2012. She also played Rebecca James on CBC's detective show Murdoch Mysteries from 2015 to 2018. Mouna tried out for Murdoch Mysteries several times before getting her recurring role.
In 2020, she starred in the Netflix series Self Made as Esther. She also appeared in The Umbrella Academy as Jill.
Behind the Scenes: Filmmaking
Mouna Traoré is also a filmmaker. She helped start a production company called The Mini Films. Through this company, she has written and produced two short films. Her short film Adorn, made in 2015, won an award. It was named Best Narrative Short at the Montreal International Black Film Festival.
