Mount Crawford is a small place found in the beautiful Mount Lofty Ranges of South Australia. It gets its name from a mountain called Mount Crawford, which is located right within its borders.

Mount Crawford is a quiet area with interesting roads and natural spots. It's a great place to learn about geography and nature.
Where is Mount Crawford Located?
You can find Mount Crawford by following Warren Road (which is also known as route B34). This road connects Williamstown and Birdwood. Another road, Route B35, branches off towards Mount Pleasant.
Even though the area between these two roads is called Cromer, both sides of the "Y" shaped road junction are part of Mount Crawford.
Nature and Outdoor Activities
Mount Crawford is home to some lovely natural areas.
- The Warren Conservation Park is located here. It's a protected area for plants and animals.
- The southern side of the Warren Reservoir is also within Mount Crawford. This reservoir holds water.
- The South Para River starts its journey in Mount Crawford. It then flows along the northern edge of the area and through the Warren Reservoir.
- If you love hiking, the Heysen Trail crosses through Mount Crawford. This is a very long walking trail that goes through many parts of South Australia.
Who Manages the Area?
Mount Crawford is special because it falls under the care of two different local councils.
- Part of it is managed by the Adelaide Hills Council.
- The other part is looked after by the Barossa Council.
This area is also part of the famous Adelaide Hills wine region. This means the climate and soil are great for growing grapes used to make wine.

- In 1846, there were 530 people recorded living in Mount Crawford.
