Mount Greenock is a tall mountain in Jasper National Park in Alberta, Canada. It stands about 2,073-metre (6,801 ft) high. You can find it in the Athabasca River valley. This mountain is part of the De Smet Range, which is a smaller part of the huge Canadian Rockies.
A man named Morrison P. Bridgland named Mount Greenock in 1916. He was a surveyor who explored and mapped many areas in the Canadian Rockies. He named this mountain after a town called Greenock in Scotland. The name became official in 1956, approved by the Geographical Names Board of Canada.
Understanding Mount Greenock's Climate
Mount Greenock has a subarctic climate. This means it has very cold and snowy winters. The summers are usually mild. Temperatures can drop below -20 °C (that's -4 °F). With the wind, it can feel even colder, sometimes below -30 °C (-22 °F).
The water from rain and melting snow on Mount Greenock flows into small streams. These streams then join the larger Athabasca River.
