About Mount Kudlich
Mount Kudlich stands at 11,301 feet (about 3,445 meters) tall. It is found in a wild and beautiful area of Alaska. The mountain sits about 4,000 feet above where two parts of the Ruth Glacier meet. This spot is on the west side of a special area called the Don Sheldon Amphitheater.

How Did Mount Kudlich Get Its Name?
The mountain was likely named by an explorer named Belmore Browne. He might have named it after Herman C. Kudlich (1861-1946). Herman Kudlich was a City Magistrate in New York. He was also a member of the American Museum of Natural History.
Belmore Browne was part of an expedition in 1906. This group claimed to be the first to climb Mount McKinley (which is now called Denali). However, this claim was later shown to be incorrect.
First Climbers
The first time anyone successfully climbed Mount Kudlich was in 1968. Two climbers, Niklaus Lotscher and Heinz Alleman, made this first ascent. They climbed the mountain using a route called the Southwest Ridge. The mountain is made of a type of rock called Granite.
