Mount Lambe is a tall mountain in the Canadian Rockies. It stands 3,183-metre (10,443-foot) high. This impressive peak is located right on the border between Alberta and British Columbia in Canada.

The mountain got its name in 1918. It was named after Lawrence Morris Lambe. He was a famous Canadian scientist. Lawrence Lambe studied many things, including rocks and the Earth, ancient life like dinosaurs, and how living things interact with their environment. He worked for the Geological Survey of Canada.

What is Mount Lambe made of?

Mount Lambe is made of a type of rock called sedimentary rock. This rock formed a very, very long time ago. It was laid down during the Precambrian and Cambrian periods. These periods were hundreds of millions of years ago!

Over time, these layers of rock were pushed up. This happened during an event called the Laramide orogeny. Imagine giant forces in the Earth's crust pushing and folding the land. This process lifted the rocks to form the mountains we see today.

Mount Lambe's Weather

Mount Lambe has a subarctic climate. This means it has very cold and snowy winters. The summers, however, are usually mild.

During winter, temperatures can drop very low. They might go below −20 °C. When you add the wind, it can feel even colder, sometimes below −30 °C. This is why the mountain is covered in snow for much of the year.
