What's the Weather Like on Mount Oleg?
Mount Oleg is in a subarctic climate zone. This means it has long, cold winters and short, cool summers. Most of the weather in this area comes from the Pacific Ocean.
When weather systems, called weather fronts, move east from the ocean, they hit the Coast Mountains. The mountains force the air to rise. As the air goes higher, it cools down and drops its moisture. This process is called Orographic lift. It causes a lot of rain or snow to fall on the mountains.
Because of this, the Coast Mountains get a lot of precipitation, especially snow in winter. This snowy climate helps keep the Place Glacier on the north side of Mount Oleg. Temperatures can get very cold, sometimes dropping below −20 °C. With the wind, it can feel even colder, below −30 °C!
If you want to climb Mount Oleg, the best time to visit is usually from July to September. The weather is much better then.
