Mount Starr King is a mountain located in Coös County, New Hampshire, in the United States. It is part of the Pliny Range, which is a smaller part of the larger White Mountains.

The mountain is named after Thomas Starr King (1824–1864). He was a famous minister and speaker from the 1800s.

Exploring Mount Starr King

Mount Starr King stands tall at 1,191 meters (about 3,907 feet) above sea level. It is surrounded by other interesting peaks. To its east, you'll find Mount Waumbek. To the northwest, there is Haystack Mountain.

Water Flow from the Mountain

Water from Mount Starr King flows into several small streams called brooks. These brooks eventually join the Israel River. The Israel River then carries the water into the larger Connecticut River. Finally, the water travels all the way to the Long Island Sound on the Atlantic coast. This shows how water connects different parts of the land.

Future Plans for the Mountain

In the mid-1960s, there were plans to build a ski area on the northern side of Mount Starr King. This project was called the Willard Basin Ski Area. The ideas included building a special lift called an aerial tramway and even a hotel right on the mountain's top. However, these plans were never fully carried out.
