Mount Vernon is a small city in Davison County, South Dakota, in the United States. In 2020, about 461 people lived there. It is part of the larger Mitchell, South Dakota area.
The city got its name from Mount Vernon, which was the home of George Washington, the first President of the United States. Long ago, it was also known as Arlandtown. Mount Vernon officially became a city in 1903.
