Ms. Pac-Man is a super popular arcade video game. It was made by Midway Manufacturing (now called Midway Games). The game came out on January 13, 1982, just one year after the original Pac-Man game. It quickly became one of the most loved video games ever! Because it was so popular, the company Namco made it an official part of the Pac-Man game series.
This game stars a female character, Ms. Pac-Man. It also has brand new mazes and some cool changes to how you play compared to the first Pac-Man game. Ms. Pac-Man is the most successful arcade game ever made in America, selling 115,000 arcade machines!
Playing Ms. Pac-Man
Playing Ms. Pac-Man is a lot like playing the first Pac-Man game. You control Ms. Pac-Man, who looks like a yellow disc. Your job is to guide her around a maze. The main goal is to eat all the small yellow pellets (which are like little circles). You must do this while avoiding the scary ghosts.
You can earn extra points by eating fruits that pop up in the maze. If Ms. Pac-Man eats a special white pellet, the ghosts turn blue! When they are blue, you can eat them for even more points. The game has 256 different levels, or stages. Just like the original Pac-Man, the 256th level cannot be finished because of a small problem in the game's design.
What's New in Ms. Pac-Man?
Ms. Pac-Man brought some exciting changes compared to the first game. These changes made the game even more fun and challenging:
- The game has four different mazes. In the original Pac-Man, you played on the same maze every time.
- Three of the four mazes have two sets of "warp tunnels." These tunnels let you quickly move from one side of the screen to the other. The first game only had one set.
- The fruit doesn't just stay in the middle anymore! In Ms. Pac-Man, the fruit moves around the maze and even goes through the warp tunnels.
- The ghosts act a little differently. They have new patterns, which makes them harder to predict.
- The game also has different sound effects and music, giving it a fresh feel.
