Geography and Location
Mueller Township covers about 87.78 square miles (227.35 square kilometers). Most of this area is land, but about 4.17 square miles (10.80 square kilometers) is water. This water makes up almost 5% of the township's total area.
Important Communities
- Blaney Park was first started as a town for lumbering. This means people cut down trees here for wood. A company from Chicago called William Mueller Company owned it. They even used steamships on the Great Lakes. The lumber business was not very successful. So, in 1909, the town was sold to the Wiscon Land and Mining Company. They continued lumbering until 1927. After that, Blaney Park was changed into a resort town. A resort town is a place where people go for vacations and fun.
- Port Inland is a busy port located on the eastern side of the township. A port is a place where ships can load and unload goods. Port Inland is used to move limestone. Limestone is a type of rock used in many industries. A company called Carmeuse brings the limestone here by train. In 2013, Port Inland was ranked as the 81st largest port in the United States based on the amount of goods it handled.
