The mountain is part of a long ridge. This ridge stretches for about 8 kilometres (5.0 mi) (5 miles). It lies between Loch Cluanie and upper Glen Affric. Where is Mullach Fraoch-choire?

Mullach Fraoch-choire is located in a stunning part of Scotland. It sits south of upper Glen Affric. It is also north of Loch Cluanie. This area is at the start of Glenmoriston. This valley then continues west towards Glen Shiel and Kintail.

Approaching Mullach Fraoch-choire on the ridge from Stob Coire na Chràlaig

A popular way to climb this mountain is from Cluanie. You would first climb A' Chràlaig. Then, you would walk along the ridge north from there. This path can be quite exciting! It involves some scrambling around several rocky points. There are steep drops on both sides of the path.

The last half-kilometre of the ridge is very narrow. It can be a thrilling challenge. In winter, this section becomes a Scottish Grade I climb. This means it's a challenging but achievable climb for experienced winter hikers. After reaching the top, you can return the same way. Or, you can descend through Coire Odhar. This path starts near the smaller peak of Stob Coire na Chràlaig.
