Munir Ahmed Niazi was a famous Pakistani poet who wrote in both the Punjabi and Urdu languages. He was also known for writing for newspapers, magazines, and radio. In 1960, he started his own publishing company called Al-Misal. Later, he worked with Pakistan Television in Lahore, where he lived until he passed away. Many of his poems were turned into popular songs for films, making him a well-known songwriter in the 1960s.

Early Life and Education
Munir Ahmed Niazi was born on April 19, 1923. He was born in a village in the Hoshiarpur district of British India. His family was Punjabi and had Pashtun roots.
He first went to school in Khanpur. After the partition of India in 1947, he moved to Sahiwal, Pakistan. There, he finished his high school exams. He earned his college degrees from Govt. Sadiq Egerton College and Dayal Singh College, Lahore.
Career and Famous Works
In 1949, Munir Niazi started his own weekly newspaper called Seven Colours in Sahiwal. He became very famous because his poetry was used in movies. These film songs became super hits, making him one of Pakistan's top movie songwriters in the 1960s.
For example, the song "Uss Bewafa Ka Shehar Hai Aur Hum Hain Dosto" from the 1962 film Shaheed was written by him.

Later Life and Legacy
Munir Niazi passed away on December 26, 2006, in Lahore, Pakistan. He died from a respiratory illness.
To honor him, a book called 'Munir Niazi Ki Baatain, Yadain' was launched on his 86th birthday. This book includes interviews with Munir Niazi and articles written about him. It was launched at the Punjab Institute of Language, Art and Culture in Lahore.
