Mustafa Abdush-Shakur (born August 18, 1984) is an American former professional basketball player. He played as a point guard. Mustafa played college basketball for the University of Arizona. He also played professionally in Europe, Lebanon, the NBA D-League, and the NBA.

High School Basketball Journey
Mustafa Shakur started his high school basketball career at William Penn High School in Philadelphia. This was during his sophomore year in 2000–01. Later, he moved to Friends' Central School for his junior year.
Junior Year Success
In his junior year (2001–02), Mustafa was a star player. He scored about 18.8 points per game. He also grabbed 6.0 rebounds and made 4.0 assists per game. His team, Friends' Central, won the Friends League title. Mustafa earned many awards, including first-team all-state honors.
Signing with Arizona
On November 13, 2002, Mustafa made a big decision. He signed a National Letter of Intent. This meant he would play college basketball for the University of Arizona.
Senior Year Highlights
As a senior in 2002–03, Mustafa continued to shine. He averaged 26.8 points, 6.8 assists, and 4.1 steals per game. He was named to the USA Today High School Boys All-USA first team. He also received the Gatorade Pennsylvania Player of the Year award. A major honor was being named a McDonald's All-American.
College Basketball Career
Mustafa Shakur played college basketball for the Arizona Wildcats. He was a key player for the team for four years.
Freshman Season (2003–04)
In his first year at Arizona, Mustafa quickly made an impact. He was named to the Pac-10 All-Freshman Team. He played 30 games, averaging 9.4 points and 4.5 assists per game.
Sophomore Season (2004–05)
During his second year, Mustafa was on the Naismith Award watch list. This award goes to the best college basketball player. He averaged 8.1 points and 4.5 assists in 37 games.
Junior Season (2005–06)
In his junior year, Mustafa started every game for the Wildcats. He ended the season with 455 career assists. This placed him among the top players in Arizona's history. He averaged 11.2 points and 4.7 assists per game. In April 2006, he thought about entering the NBA draft. However, he decided to stay at Arizona for his senior year.
Senior Season (2006–07)
Mustafa had a great senior year. He earned honorable mention all-Pac-10 honors. He finished his college career with 1,318 points, ranking 22nd all-time. He also had 670 assists, which is the second-highest in Arizona history. In his final season, he averaged 11.9 points and 6.9 assists per game.

Professional Basketball Career
After college, Mustafa Shakur began his professional basketball journey. He played for many teams in different leagues.
Early Years in Europe and D-League (2007–2010)
Mustafa was not chosen in the 2007 NBA draft. He joined the Sacramento Kings for the NBA Summer League. Later, he played for teams in Poland and Spain. In 2009, he joined the Tulsa 66ers in the NBA D-League. He also signed short contracts with the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2010.
NBA Experience with Wizards (2010–2011)
In 2010, Mustafa joined the Rio Grande Valley Vipers in the D-League. In January 2011, he signed a contract with the Washington Wizards. He played for the Wizards for the rest of the 2010–11 NBA season.
Playing Overseas and D-League Return (2011–2018)
After his time in the NBA, Mustafa played for teams in France and Italy. In 2013, he returned to the D-League with the Erie BayHawks. He also had another short contract with the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2014. Mustafa then played in Lebanon, Lithuania, and Germany. His last professional team was the Oklahoma City Blue in the NBA G League in 2018.

USA Junior National Team (2003)
In 2003, Mustafa was part of the USA Basketball Men's Junior National Team. They finished fifth at the World Championships in Greece. He averaged 5.0 points and 2.8 assists during the tournament.
USA World Championship for Young Men (2004)
In 2004, he helped the USA team win a gold medal. This was at the World Championship for Young Men Qualifying tournament in Canada. The team had a perfect 5–0 record.
