Mutual is a small town located in Woodward County, Oklahoma, in the United States. In 2020, about 63 people lived there. The town became official in 1908. After World War I, it faced tough times due to problems in farming. It grew only a little bit during the 1970s and 1980s.

Where is Mutual Located?
Mutual is found in the state of Oklahoma. It is about 19 miles southeast of Woodward. Woodward is the main city in Woodward County.
The United States Census Bureau says that Mutual covers about 0.27 square miles (0.69 square kilometers) of land. There is no water area in the town.
A Look Back: Mutual's History
Mutual got its own post office on June 4, 1895. The town officially became a town in 1908. By 1910, Mutual had grown quite a bit. It had two churches, a bank, and a place to grind animal feed. There was also a shop for machines and a business that sold chickens and dairy products. The town even had a hotel in its early days.
Challenges and Changes
Things went well for Mutual until after World War I. At that time, farming faced many problems, which hurt the town's economy. Also, a new road, U.S. Highway 270, was built to go around the town. This meant fewer people passed through Mutual.
The town's population kept going down. However, in the 1970s and 1980s, finding and producing oil gave Mutual a small boost. By the end of the 1900s, Mutual had about half a dozen businesses and 76 residents. Some people living in Mutual traveled to Woodward or Seiling for their jobs.
