Nahum Barnea (Hebrew: נחום ברנע) is a well-known Israeli journalist. He was born on October 23, 1944. Barnea writes for a major newspaper called Yedioth Ahronoth. He is famous for his reporting and won the important Israel Prize in 2007.

Nahum Barnea was born in a city called Petah Tikva. His original last name was Borstein, but he later changed it to Barnea.

When he was younger, he served in the IDF. This is Israel's army. After his military service, he went to Hebrew University in Jerusalem. There, he studied history and political science.

Nahum Barnea is married to Tami. They have three children together.

His Career in Journalism

Nahum Barnea started his journey in journalism while he was still at university. He wrote for the student newspaper, Pi-Ha'aton [he].

From 1967 to 1982, he worked for a newspaper called Davar. He even became their reporter in Washington, D.C. in the United States. Later, he helped start and edit a weekly paper named Koteret Rashit.

Since 1989, Barnea has been a main writer for Yedioth Ahronoth. This is one of Israel's biggest newspapers. He also wrote for another publication, Ha'Ayin HaShevi'it, for many years.

Awards and Special Honors

Nahum Barnea has received several awards for his excellent work.

In 1981, he was given the Sokolov Prize for journalism. This is a big award for reporters in Israel. In 1998, a survey showed that many people thought he was one of the most important journalists in the country.

His biggest award was the Israel Prize in 2007. This prize is one of the highest honors in Israel. The judges who gave him the award said that Nahum Barnea is a journalist that many young writers look up to.
