Namie (浪江町, Namie-machi) is a town in Japan. It's located in Fukushima Prefecture, which is on the big island of Honshu.
What Happened in 2011?
Namie was greatly affected by a huge natural disaster in 2011. This event was called the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami. The earthquake caused a giant wave, a tsunami, that hit the coast.
In April 2011, the Japanese government asked everyone to leave Namie. This was because of something called radiation. Radiation came from the nearby Fukushima I nuclear power plant. There were accidents at the power plant after the earthquake and tsunami.
Because of this, the people who used to live in Namie had to move away. They are sometimes called "nuclear refugees." This means they had to leave their homes because of the nuclear accident.
