Nash Grier's Career Journey
Nash Grier began making short videos on the Vine app in early 2013. One of his first videos became very popular. After that, Nash quickly gained thousands of followers on the app. Nash has said that he mostly taught himself how to edit videos. His videos might look spontaneous, but they were often carefully planned. He would film clips many times and sometimes spend hours editing them.
His management team confirmed that big brands paid Nash Grier a lot of money. They paid him between $25,000 and $100,000 to advertise their products in his Vine videos. Because he was so popular, Nash appeared on TV shows. These included Good Morning America and The View.
Joining the Magcon Group
As Nash's popularity grew, he joined a new group called Magcon. This name stood for "Meet and Greet Convention." He joined in October 2013. The group was described as "a boy-band phenomenon without the band." Nash was part of Magcon with his brother Hayes and other Vine stars. These included Cameron Dallas, Matthew Espinosa, Jack & Jack, Taylor Caniff, Shawn Mendes, Carter Reynolds, and Mahogany Lox.
The Magcon group held events where fans could meet and talk with these internet celebrities. These shows attracted thousands of fans who followed the group members on social media.
Learning from Mistakes
In April 2013, Nash Grier posted a video that caused controversy. He later deleted the video. A recording of it reappeared in July 2014, and Nash faced criticism again. Nash posted an apology on Twitter. He said he was "young, ignorant, stupid and in a bad place." He added that he had "moved on and learned from my mistakes." He also said he was "so truly sorry to anyone I have offended."
After Magcon and New Ventures
In April 2014, the Magcon group broke up. This was due to disagreements among the members' managers. After the group split, Nash moved to Los Angeles. He moved with fellow Magcon member Cameron Dallas to focus on his career. That summer, Nash joined DigiFest. This was a "social media tour" with thousands of attendees. Internet personalities performed comedy and dance. They also held Q&A sessions and took pictures with fans.
Nash Grier and his management team have released mobile games and social media apps. These include Cash Dash, Mobli, and Challenged. Nash has his own website where fans can buy his merchandise. He also had a clothing line with Aéropostale called "UnitedXXVI." Nash, Cameron Dallas, and his younger brother Hayes helped design this line. Aéropostale faced some criticism for working with Nash because of his earlier controversies. BuzzFeed News noted that this showed how hard it can be for brands to work with new types of celebrities.
