Jason Paul Douglas Boyd, known as Poo Bear, is an American singer, songwriter, and music producer. He is famous for writing many songs for the Canadian singer Justin Bieber. Poo Bear has worked on all of Bieber's albums since Journals in 2013.
He helped write four songs that reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. These include Justin Bieber's parts in "Despacito (Remix)" and "I'm the One". He also wrote Bieber's hit songs "Where Are Ü Now" and "What Do You Mean?". Poo Bear also wrote other popular songs for Bieber, like "Intentions", "Forever", "I Don't Care", and "All That Matters".
Before working with Justin Bieber, Poo Bear wrote songs for the R&B group 112. He also helped write Usher's song "Caught Up" in 2004, which was a top ten hit. He often works with producer Scott Storch and co-writes songs with Sasha Sirota.
As a singer himself, Poo Bear signed with Capitol Records. He released his first album, Poo Bear Presents Bearthday Music, in 2018. In 2023, he started his own music distribution company called Fwaygo.

Early Life and First Steps in Music
Jason Paul Douglas Boyd was born in New Haven, Connecticut. When he was nine years old, a tornado destroyed his home. He and his mother then moved to Atlanta, Georgia.
Poo Bear's first big chance in music came when he worked with the R&B group 112. He helped write their songs "Dance with Me" and "Peaches & Cream".
A Career in Songwriting
After his early success with 112, Poo Bear continued to write songs for many other artists. These included Chris Brown, Jill Scott, and Mariah Carey.
In 2004, Usher released his album Confessions. Poo Bear co-wrote the song "Caught Up" on this album. Confessions was a huge success, selling over 10 million copies in the US. "Caught Up" became a top ten hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Working with Justin Bieber
In January 2013, while in Las Vegas, Nevada, Poo Bear met Justin Bieber. They were introduced by rapper Lil Twist and other friends. Poo Bear and Justin Bieber quickly became good friends. They found they had similar backgrounds and musical tastes. They traveled the world together, working on music for Bieber's albums. During this time, Poo Bear focused only on writing for Justin Bieber.
He co-wrote most of the songs on Bieber's albums Journals and Purpose. Some of these songs include "No Pressure", "PYD", and "All That Matters". He also co-wrote the very popular songs "Where Are Ü Now" and "What Do You Mean?". "Where Are Ü Now" reached number 8 on the Billboard Hot 100, and "What Do You Mean?" hit number 1.
On April 27, 2018, Poo Bear released his own first studio album, Poo Bear Presents Bearthday Music, through Capitol Records.
Later Successes
In the late 2010s, Poo Bear's songs became popular in different music styles, including Latin and country music. The song "Despacito (Remix)" was named the number one Latin song in the history of the Billboard charts. Also, the country hit "10,000 Hours" by Dan + Shay reached number one on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart.
Poo Bear also produced songs for the Mexican pop group Jesse & Joy. These included "Mañana es Too Late", which featured Colombian singer J Balvin, and "Lo Nuestro es Más".
