Annabella Avery Thorne (born October 8, 1997) is an American actress, singer, and writer. She first became known for her roles in TV shows like Dirty ... Money (2007–2008) and My Own Worst Enemy (2009). For her role in My Own Worst Enemy, she won a Young Artist Award.

Thorne became very popular as CeCe Jones on the Disney Channel series Shake It Up (2010–2013). This role brought her many awards and nominations, including an Imagen Award. She has also been in many movies, such as Blended (2014) and Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip (2015). She also starred in The Babysitter film series (2017–2020). People praised her acting in films like The DUFF (2015) and Infamous (2020). Thorne also led the TV drama series Famous in Love (2017–2018).

Besides acting, Thorne also sings. She released her first song, "Watch Me" in 2011. This song reached number 86 on the US Billboard Hot 100 music chart. She later released two EPs (Extended Plays), Made in Japan in 2012 and Jersey in 2014.

Growing Up: Bella's Early Life

Annabella Avery Thorne was born in Pembroke Pines, Florida, on October 8, 1997. Her parents are Tamara Thorne and Delancey Reinaldo "Rey" Thorne. She has three brothers and sisters who are also actors. Her father had Cuban roots, and she also has Italian, English, German, Irish, and Welsh family history.

Bella has shared that her mother raised four children, and they were very poor. She started acting as a child to help her family. In 2017, Thorne said she was bullied when she was younger because she has dyslexia. This is a learning difference that makes reading harder. She got better at learning after going to a Sylvan Learning center. She then started reading and writing at a higher grade level. In 2010, she said she overcame dyslexia by reading everything she could find, even cereal box labels!

Bella's Acting Journey: From Early Roles to Stardom

Starting Out: Bella's First Acting Jobs (2003–2009)

Bella Thorne's first movie role was a small, uncredited part in the 2003 film Stuck on You. After that, she appeared in TV shows like Entourage and The O.C.. In 2007, she got a regular role as Margaux Darling in the second season of Dirty ... Money. This was her first big TV role.

In 2008, Thorne starred with Christian Slater in the TV series My Own Worst Enemy. She won a Young Artist Award for playing Ruthy Spivey. Thorne said this role was a big step for her career. The same year, she was in an episode of October Road. Her older brother, Remy, also appeared in the same episode.

In 2009, she was in a web series called Little Monk. She played Wendy, a classmate of the main character, Adrian Monk. She also played a mean character in the horror movie Forget Me Not. Thorne had a supporting role in the family movie Raspberry Magic, which came out in 2010.

In 2010, Thorne joined the cast of HBO's Big Love. Soon after, she got a co-starring role in the Disney Channel sitcom Shake It Up. Thorne played CeCe Jones, a dancer who dreams of being famous, even though she has dyslexia. The show was a comedy about two friends, CeCe and Rocky (played by Zendaya), who dance on a TV show.

Even though she had acted a lot, Thorne had no professional dance experience before Shake It Up. After getting the role, she started taking three dance classes every night. The show began filming in July 2010 and first aired on November 7, 2010.

Thorne's first song, "Watch Me", came out in June 2011. It reached number 86 on the US Billboard Hot 100 charts. It also earned a Gold certification. In 2012, Thorne starred as Avalon Greene in the Disney Channel Original Movie Frenemies. Her song "TTYLXOX" was released in March 2012 and also charted. In March 2013, Hollywood Records announced that Thorne had signed with their record label.

On July 25, 2013, Disney Channel announced that Shake It Up would end after its third season. In April 2013, Thorne shared that she was working on her first album with eleven songs. She said her songs would be very different from each other. Thorne mentioned Britney Spears, Kesha, and Destiny's Child as artists who inspired her music. In 2013, it was reported that Thorne signed a deal to write a series of books. Her first novel, Autumn Falls, was part of this series.

Big Screen Roles and New Music (2014–2017)

In 2014, Thorne co-starred in the comedy movie Blended. She played the daughter of Adam Sandler's character. She also appeared in Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day (2014) and The DUFF (2015). In these films, she often played high school rivals.

In October 2014, Thorne was in an episode of the TV show CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. She also appeared in the movie Mostly Ghostly: Have You Met My Ghoulfriend (2014). Thorne decided to cancel her debut album because she wasn't happy with the music. Instead, she released an EP called Jersey in November 2014. The main song from the EP, "Call It Whatever", reached the top ten on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Songs chart.

In 2014, Thorne was cast in the MTV series Scream. This show was based on the famous Scream horror movies. Thorne was offered the main role but chose to play the "mean, terrible Nina" instead, thinking it would be more memorable.

In 2015, Thorne voiced a character in the animated film The Frog Kingdom. She also starred in the film Shovel Buddies, which came out in 2016. She played Jamie in the movie Keep Watching. Also in 2015, she appeared as Ashley, a young and famous singer, in Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip.

In 2016, Thorne played Rain in Tyler Perry's Boo! A Madea Halloween. In 2017, Thorne returned to TV with the drama series Famous in Love. She played Paige Townsen, a regular college student who gets a big acting break in Hollywood. In March 2017, Thorne joined the cast of the movie Assassination Nation. The same year, Thorne starred in the Netflix movie You Get Me. She also appeared in the horror comedy The Babysitter, which was released on Netflix. New Directions: Directing and More (2018–Present)

Thorne starred in the romantic movie Midnight Sun, which came out in March 2018. She also sang five songs for the movie's soundtrack. The next month, she announced her own record label called Filthy Fangs. In August 2018, it was shared that her record label teamed up with Epic/Sony. She then started working on her first studio album.

In 2020, Thorne appeared as "Swan" on The Masked Singer. She also starred with Jake Manley in the movie Infamous. Critics praised her performance in the film.

In November 2020, Thorne starred in the thriller Girl. Many critics said this was one of Thorne's best performances. In the same month, she also starred in the action comedy film Chick Fight.

In 2021, Thorne played Lily in the first season of Amazon Prime Video's Paradise City. She also appeared in other movies like Masquerade and Time Is Up. That same year, Thorne starred in and helped produce the film Habit. She also worked on Leave Not One Alive and The Trainer.

Bella as a Writer

Besides acting and singing, Bella Thorne is also a published writer. In 2014, she wrote Autumn Falls. This was the first book in a series of three young adult novels. The other two books are Autumn's Kiss (2015) and Autumn's Wish (2016). The books are about a teenage girl who deals with growing up with help from her diary, which might have magical powers.

In July 2019, a book of Thorne's poems was published. It is called The Life of a Wannabe Mogul: Mental Disarray Vol. 1.

Bella's Life Outside of Work

Thorne dated Tristan Klier from 2011 to 2014. She then dated English actor Gregg Sulkin from 2015 to 2016. After that, she was in relationships with musician Blackbear and media personality Tana Mongeau. From 2019 to 2022, she was in a relationship with Italian singer Benjamin Mascolo. They announced their engagement in March 2021 but later split up in June 2022. In May 2023, Thorne announced her engagement to entrepreneur Mark Emms.

In a 2021 interview, Thorne shared that she has always been a big fan of horror movies and books.
