Nebo is a small city in Hopkins County, Kentucky, in the United States. It is known as a "home rule-class city," which means it has its own local government rules. In 2010, about 236 people lived there.

History
Nebo was started in 1840 by a pioneer and merchant named Alfred Townes. The city got its name from the Biblical Mount Nebo. This is a mountain where Moses was said to have seen the Promised Land. Nebo officially became a city in 1861.
Geography
Nebo is located in the northwestern part of Hopkins County. You can find it at these coordinates: 37°23′4″N 87°38′29″W / 37.38444°N 87.64139°W. U.S. Route 41A goes right through the middle of Nebo. This road leads east about 9 miles (14 km) to Madisonville. Madisonville is the main city and county seat of Hopkins County. If you go west on the same road, you will reach Providence about 7 miles (11 km) away.
The United States Census Bureau says that Nebo covers a total area of 0.25 square miles (0.64 km2). All of this area is land.

Economy
The Western Kentucky Speedway is located just southeast of Nebo. This is a dirt track where people race cars. It is a popular place for local events.
