History of Neosho Rapids
Neosho Rapids has had a few different names over the years. It was first called Italia, then Florence. The town was officially planned out in 1855.
In 1857, it got its current name, Neosho Rapids. This name comes from the whitewater parts of the nearby Neosho River.
A famous magazine called LIFE once wrote about Neosho Rapids. In their December 24, 1945, issue, they featured a 5-page story. It was about soldiers coming home to the town for their first Christmas after World War II.
