The northern part of Nerimbera has mountains and valleys. One of the main mountains is Mount Berserker, which is 468 meters (about 1,535 feet) tall. It is part of the Berserker Range. These mountains are mostly untouched and wild.
In the south, Nerimbera is next to the Fitzroy River. This area is flatter and is mostly used for grazing animals like cattle. A main road, the Rockhampton–Emu Park Road, goes through Nerimbera from west to east.
A Look Back at Nerimbera's History
The name "Berserker" comes from old Norse warriors. A man named Charles Archer, whose family was from Scotland and Norway, used this name in 1853 for the mountains.
In 1911, a Baptist church opened in Nerimbera. A special ceremony was held on August 19, 1911, before it officially opened on October 1, 1911.
Nerimbera also had its own school, Nerimbera State School, which opened on August 16, 1921. It was located at 4 Graff Road. The school stopped teaching students on December 31, 2008, and officially closed on December 31, 2009.
