Nery Gustavo Kennedy Rolón was born on May 28, 1973. He is a talented javelin thrower from Paraguay. A javelin thrower is an athlete who throws a long, spear-like object called a javelin as far as possible. Nery represented his home country at two Summer Olympics, which are huge international sports events, in 1992 and 2000.
For a short time, Nery held the South American record for the javelin throw. This means he threw the javelin farther than anyone else in South America at that moment! His amazing throw was 81.28 meters, which happened on May 9, 1998. He even beat the previous record held by his fellow countryman, Edgar Baumann. However, Edgar Baumann later broke Nery's record in 1999 with an even longer throw of 84.70 meters. In 2008, Nery shared his knowledge and skills by working as a coach in Canada. He also set a javelin throw record at Texas A&M University in 1994.
