History of Nestlé Pure Life
Nestlé Pure Life was first launched in 1998 in Pakistan. It began to be sold in Europe in the year 2000.
Starting in Pakistan
Nestlé Pure Life began its journey in Pakistan. It quickly grew to be sold in many countries.
Growth in North America
Nestlé Pure Life started being sold in North America in 2002. Before this, Nestlé had bought a water brand called Aberfoyle Springs in 2000. This brand was then renamed Nestlé Pure Life Aberfoyle. Later, it became known as Nestlé Pure Life Natural Spring Water. Aberfoyle Springs itself had started in 1993.
By mid-2020, Nestlé Canada got its water from a few places. These included a source in Aberfoyle, Ontario, a well in Erin, Ontario, and another in Hope, British Columbia. The company also owned a well in Elora, Ontario that had not yet been used.
On July 3, 2020, Nestlé Canada announced plans to sell its water bottling business. The buyer was going to be Ice River Springs. This company would take over the water sources and bottling factories in Aberfoyle, Ontario, and Hope, British Columbia. They would also get the well in Erin, Ontario. This announcement came after the Government of Ontario planned new rules. These rules would give local towns more power to stop new bottling plants. However, Nestlé said they had been planning to sell the business since 2019. The deal did not go through as planned, so Nestlé canceled it in September 2020.
Then, on February 16, 2021, Nestlé announced a new plan. They agreed to sell most of their water brands in North America to two companies. These companies were One Rock Capital Partners and Metropoulos & Co. They created a new company called BlueTriton Brands. This sale happened in early April 2021. It included the North American parts of Pure Life. It also included other spring water and purified water brands. However, the sale did not include brands like Perrier, S.Pellegrino, and Acqua Panna.
