Nevele (pronounced like NAY-vuh-luh) is a lovely village in the East Flanders province of Belgium. It used to be its own municipality, which is like a small local government area.
This municipality included the main town of Nevele, plus five other smaller towns: Hansbeke, Landegem, Merendree, Poesele, and Vosselare. In 2018, about 12,179 people lived in the Nevele municipality. The total area was about 51.89 square kilometers.
On January 1, 2019, the municipality of Nevele joined with the nearby city of Deinze. Now, Nevele is part of Deinze.

Nevele has been home to several interesting people who became well-known for their work.
Writers and Artists
- Cyriel Buysse: A famous novelist who wrote many stories.
- Rosalie Loveling and Virginie Loveling: These two sisters were also writers. They were Cyriel Buysse's aunts!
- Monika van Paemel: Another talented writer from the area.
Heroes and Other Notable Figures
- Renaat de Rudder: Born in Oostakker in 1897, Renaat moved to Landegem (one of Nevele's towns) in 1909. When he was young, he bravely volunteered to join the Belgian army during World War I in 1914. He wrote about the difficulties he faced during the war until he passed away on December 12, 1917.
- Leo Lovaert: Another notable person from Nevele.
