Deinze is a cool city and a municipality in Belgium. It's located in the province of East Flanders.
Deinze is made up of the main city and several smaller towns. Some of these towns are Astene, Hansbeke, Nevele, and Petegem-aan-de-Leie. As of January 1, 2022, about 44,315 people live in Deinze. The total area of the municipality is about 128 square kilometers. This means about 342 people live in each square kilometer.
On January 1, 2019, the nearby municipality of Nevele joined with Deinze. This made Deinze even bigger!

History of Deinze
Deinze has a long history. In 1695, during a war called the Nine Years' War, English soldiers were in Deinze. They were led by an Irish general named Francis Fergus O’Farrell. French forces made them surrender.
Deinze's Mail Service History
The first post office in Deinze opened in 1836. It had a special postal code. Another post office opened in Peteghem in 1874.
