Zomergem's New Chapter
Joining Forces to Create Lievegem
On January 1, 2019, something big happened for Zomergem. It joined with two other nearby municipalities, Waarschoot and Lovendegem. They all came together to form a brand new, larger municipality called Lievegem. This kind of joining is called a municipal merger.
This merger helps the towns work together more closely. It means they can share resources and make decisions for the whole area. So, while Zomergem is still a town, it's now part of the bigger Lievegem family.
