History of New Rockford
New Rockford began in 1883. This happened when the Great Northern Railway built its tracks through the area. The railway helped the town grow.
In 1915, some people in New Rockford tried to make their city the new capital of North Dakota. They wanted to move the capital from Bismarck. However, their plan did not succeed, and Bismarck remained the capital city.
