Nick Mourouzis (April 16, 1937 – September 16, 2020) was a famous American football player and coach. He was the head football coach at DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana, for many years, from 1981 to 2003. During his time there, his teams had a great record of 138 wins, 87 losses, and 4 ties. Before becoming a coach, Mourouzis was a starting quarterback (a key player who throws the ball) for the Miami University football team in Oxford, Ohio.

Nick Mourouzis was born on April 16, 1937, in Tuscarawas County, Ohio. When he was in high school, he played both football and baseball. A well-known coach named Ara Parseghian saw his talent and asked him to play for Miami University.
Nick studied hard and graduated from Miami University in 1959. He later earned two master's degrees, one in 1961 and another from Indiana University in 1971.
Coaching Career
Mourouzis became the head football coach at DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana, in 1981. He led the DePauw Tigers for 23 seasons, until 2003. His teams won 138 games, lost 87, and tied 4 times. He helped DePauw win two conference championships in 1990 and 1996.
In 1996, Coach Mourouzis started something special called the Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Society. This group recognizes college athletes who are not only good at sports but also excellent students. It's a way to celebrate student-athletes who do well in both their games and their classes.
Later Life
Nick Mourouzis passed away on September 16, 2020, in Greencastle, Indiana. He was 83 years old. He died from complications of COVID-19 during the COVID-19 pandemic in Indiana.
