In 1980, he moved to Paris, France. There, he taught German and history at a high school. From 1984, he became a full-time writer. He lived and worked in different places. These included Munich, Heidelberg, Paris, and Luxembourg. In 1999, he finally settled in Esch-sur-Alzette, Luxembourg.
