Nimrod is a small city in Wadena County, Minnesota, United States. In 2020, 84 people lived there. This makes Nimrod one of Minnesota's smallest cities. Even so, you can find it on most big maps. Nimrod officially became a city in 1946. The city gets its name from a character in the Bible named Nimrod.
Minnesota State Highway 227 ends its journey in Nimrod. This highway travels about 11 miles from Sebeka to Nimrod.

History of Nimrod
Nimrod started as a stop for people trading wheat. They traveled on the Wheat Trail between Shell City and the closest railroad in Verndale. Nimrod was a good halfway point for them to rest.
The community became an official village in 1924. Later, in 1946, it was incorporated as a city.
Geography and Nature Around Nimrod
Nimrod covers a total area of about 1 square mile (2.6 square kilometers). Most of this area is land, with a small part being water.
The city has a park called Stigman's Mound. It is named after Dick Stigman. He was a famous baseball player from Nimrod. Dick Stigman played for the Minnesota Twins in 1965.
Stigman's Mound is located along the Crow Wing River. This river flows into the mighty Mississippi River. Many people who enjoy canoeing stop at Stigman's Mound. It is a popular resting spot on the beautiful river.
Nimrod Jubilee Days Celebration
Every year, during the Labor Day weekend, Nimrod holds a special event. It is called "The Nimrod Jubilee Days" celebration. The Nimrod Booster Club organizes this fun event.
The celebration includes many exciting activities. You can enjoy music from big bands. There is also a softball tournament and a bull bash. Mud races are another popular highlight. This event has been held every year since 1979.
