Sebeka (pronounced sə-BEE-kə) is a small city in Wadena County, Minnesota, United States. In 2020, about 741 people lived there. The city's name comes from an Ojibwe word that means "town by the water."
Sebeka is connected by important roads like U.S. Highway 71 and State Highway 227. The historic Jefferson Highway also runs through the city.

History of Sebeka
Sebeka began to grow around a train station in 1892. This station was part of the K-line branch of the Great Northern Railway. The first big business in the area was cutting down trees for wood, known as logging.
The town's first store was called the Anderson Pioneer Store. Sebeka officially became a city on March 19, 1898. Its population has changed over the years. It started with 233 people in 1900 and reached its highest number of 818 people in 1960.
A Special Mural in Sebeka
Inside the Sebeka High School building, there is a special painting called a mural. This mural was painted in 1938 by an artist named Richard Haines. It shows a special way of painting called the casein paint process, which is like fresco-painting.
Many murals like this were made across the United States between 1934 and 1943. They were part of a government project to support artists during that time.
