Early Life and Music

Noga Erez grew up in Caesarea, Israel, starting from age six. She was raised in a Jewish family. She loved music from a young age. She studied how to create music at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance.

As a child, Noga learned to play different instruments. She explored many music styles. She sang and played keyboards and drums in various groups. Before becoming a solo artist, she was a soldier in an Israel Defence Forces's military band.

Noga Erez's Music Career

Starting Her Music Journey

Noga Erez began her career in an indie-folk band called The Secret Sea. Indie music is made by independent artists, and folk music often tells stories. Later, she became interested in jazz, a style of music known for its improvisations. In 2011, she worked on a jazz album. However, she decided to switch to making electronic music instead.

After her military service in 2011, Noga sang backup for Dana International. This was for the Eurovision Song Contest that year. The song was called ""Ding Dong"."

When Noga performs live, she is part of a three-person band. She sings, Ori Rousso plays the sampler and synthesizer, and Ran Jacobovitz plays electronic drums.

Off the Radar Album

In 2017, Noga Erez was recognized by Forbes Israel. She was on their "Under 30" list, which highlights successful young people.

Her first song, "Toy," received great reviews. The New York Times newspaper praised it. They said the song had a "jittery" and "unstable" beat. They also noted its "brief melodies" that hinted at Middle Eastern sounds. Noga produced her first album, "Off the Radar," with her partner Ori Rousso. It was released in June 2017. After the album came out, she performed at many music festivals. These included Primavera, SXSW, and Roskilde. She also toured around the UK and Europe.

Kids and The Vandalist Albums

On January 13, 2021, Noga Erez announced her second album, Kids. It was released on March 26, 2021. She performed her song "Views" from the album on the TV show Jimmy Kimmel Live in April 2021.

In June 2022, Noga signed a new record deal. This was with Neon Gold Records and Atlantic Records. She also worked with other artists. On August 31, 2022, she remixed the song "Records" by the rock band Weezer. On September 16, 2022, she collaborated with American rapper Missy Elliott. They remixed Noga's song "Nails." Noga also opened for the British band Florence and the Machine at Madison Square Garden. In June 2023, she sang with British artist Robbie Williams at his concert in Tel Aviv. In September 2024, Noga released her third album, The Vandalist. This album features songs with Robbie Williams, Eden Ben Zaken, Dillom, and Flyana Boss. It is her first album released with Neon Gold Records/Atlantic Records. A documentary called Noga was made about creating this album. In November 2024, Noga joined Pink's Summer Carnival tour. She performed at two concerts in the United States.

Musical Style and Influences

Noga Erez's music blends different styles. These include alternative music, electronic sounds, and hip hop that uses samples. Samples are small pieces of other recordings. Her music is also influenced by events happening in her country and around the world.

Noga has said her songs are her way to "process the issues that bother me about the world." She uses drum machines, synthesizers, and her voice. She creates energetic, danceable songs. Her music often reflects the busy environment she grew up in. Some artists who inspire her include Flying Lotus, Björk, Frank Ocean, and Kendrick Lamar.

Personal Life

Noga Erez's partner, Ori Rousso, is also her musical collaborator. They work together on her music. Their first child was born in January 2025.

Views on World Issues

Noga Erez has spoken about different world issues. In 2018, she supported a Two-state solution. This is an idea for peace between Israelis and Palestinians.

In 2021, some comments she made about the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement caused discussion in Israel. The BDS movement tries to pressure Israel through boycotts. Noga later clarified her words. She said, "I do not support the BDS movement and never did." She added, "I love Israel and do not support any kind of boycott of the country." She explained that she did not fully understand how her words would be used. She believes boycotting artists does not help solve problems.

In February 2023, Noga protested online about proposed changes to Israel's laws. These changes were called the 2023 Israeli judicial reform.

In May 2024, she performed at a rally in Tel Aviv. The rally called for the release of people taken hostage during the Israel–Hamas war hostage crisis. Other artists like Eden Golan and Netta Barzilai also performed. Family members of the hostages spoke, as did ambassadors from several countries.

In her 2024 song "PC People," Noga talks about being too careful with words and ideas. She encourages people to have real conversations. In December 2024, she shared that she faces international boycotts. This is simply because she was born in Israel. She believes banning art does not fix world problems.
